Performer Measuring Guide
Fourteen measurements per performer. The numbers on the figure match the numbers on the intake form, and the form asks for them in this order.
Measure the body
Not an existing costume, not a previous spec sheet. Sublimated panels are cut to the performer.
Padding & pads
If the performer wears padding, knee pads or shaping under the garment, measure with it on — then say so in Notes.
Units
Inches, entered as numbers. Use .25 / .5 / .75 for part-inches — 34½ goes in as 34.5. Don’t round to the whole inch.
Numbers match the list and the form.
The measurements
- 1Chest / BustAround the fullest point. Keep the tape straight across the back — not sloping down.
- 2WaistThe natural waistline, the smallest section of the torso. Usually above the belly button, not at it.
- 3HipsAround the fullest part of the buttocks, where the legs fold into the body.
- 4Mid ThighAround the thigh where a singlet leg usually ends.
- 5Upper ThighHigh on the thigh, where boy shorts would rest.
- 6Leg InseamCrotch to floor, leg straight, standing barefoot.
- 7Out SeamFrom the natural waist, down the outside of the leg to the floor.
- 8CalfAround the biggest part of the calf.
- 9AnkleJust above the ankle bone.
- 10BicepAround the fullest part of the upper arm, relaxed.
- 11WristJust above the wrist bone.
- 12Sleeve LengthFrom the armpit crease, down the arm, to the wrist bone.
- 13HeadAround the forehead, above the ears.
- 14NeckAround the base of the neck, where a collar would sit.
One entry per performer. Take 12–14 even if the costume has no sleeves or hood — they cost nothing now and save a refit later. Unsure about a number? Write it in the Notes field rather than guessing.
